About Karate at CAA...

What IS the Karate program at CAA?

When does the season for Karate classes begin and end at Collierville Arts Academy?

Our ongoing Karate classes do not have a start/stop date. Students may start and train all year long.

How old do you have to be in order to take Karate classes?

We have Karate classes for beginners as young as 4 years old through adults.

How do I get started in Karate?

Potential students (and their parents) are certainly encouraged to come and watch a class but the best way to get started is to come and TRY a class. Anyone is welcome to take a FREE CLASS to help decide if you'd like to become a part of our Karate martial arts program and continue with regular, ongoing lessons.

New students may enroll in the Karate programs at ANY TIME. No waiting for a start date. Just come wearing basic workout clothes, ready to learn Karate!

See the current schedule of Karate classes here.

What happens after my free class?

After taking a free class, students who decide to enroll in the Karate programs will be placed according to age as follows:

Tiny Tigers is for students ages 4 - 5.

Little Tigers is for students ages 6 - 8.

Junior Tigers is for students ages 9 - 12.

Tigers Karate is for students ages 13 - older.

What is the Registration process for Karate classes and is there a fee?

Karate students do not pay a Registration Fee until they decide to join the program. If, after taking their free class, a Karate student decides to join the regular, ongoing Karate programs at CAA, a Registration Fee is assessed on the account and they begin to pay tuition according to their payment plan.

Registration for all regular, ongoing Karate students takes place in person at the front counter. Once per year, a Registration Fee is charged to CAA accounts. Our basic Registration Fee (for one student) is $25 and the Family Registration Fee (for 2 or more students from the same family) is $50 total. Registration Fees are due at the time of enrollment.

What about the uniform? When do I have to buy the necessary gear?

The class 'gi' (uniform for Karate class) and first belt must be paid for when signing up for regular classes.

How is tuition for Karate handled at Collierville Arts Academy?

We accept Cash, Checks, and VISA/Mastercard credit and debit cards for tuition and purchases at the front desk. You may also pay for tuition and some fees online through our website - however, a small additional fee is assessed for online payment processing.

At Collierville Arts Academy, Karate students are enrolled in an ongoing martial arts program that has a total duration of more than one year. At any time, a student may withdraw from the program by paying a Withdrawal Fee equal to two months' tuition.

Does Collierville Arts Academy offer tuition payment plans for Karate?

Yes, we offer three basic payment plan options for students in enrolled in the Karate Program at CAA:

1) Payment in full for a twelve month term. This option qualifies for a 5% discount but only when payment in full is received at the time of registration.

2) Payment in Halves. Half-payment at the term beginning and the other half to be paid six months later.

3) Monthly Installment Payment Plan. The MIPP is twelve equal installment payments. If this option is selected, the first and last payment are due at Registration. Each installment thereafter is due the first of each month and is considered late after the 10th of the month. (A $10 Late Fee will be added to accounts not paid on time by the 10th of each month.)

All tuition and related fees are non-refundable after the student's first class. Any Karate student who withdraws from the school mid-term must give at least thirty days' notice and have their tuition up to date.

You seem to offer a lot of courses my family might be interested in. Do you offer discounts for multiple family members?

Yes, we do. We offer several types of discounts.

1) The Class Frequency Discount. When a student takes more than one class per week, their tuition becomes discounted in keeping with their frequency. Instead of paying two times the single class/week rate for two classes a week, a discount is applied to make studying at the Academy affordable.

2) The Family Member Discount. CAA offers a discount of 10% off the second or more student from the same family. The Family Member Discount is calculated using the lesser tuition amounts for the discount, no matter which family member enrolled first.

3) The Basic Family Value Plan.  No matter how basic discounts are designed, if a family wants to involve more than two students at the Academy, the tuition totals can quickly add up. Therefore, CAA offers a special flat rate that covers a Family in full for any regular courses on our schedule for as many members are in your family. If this option interests your family, please ask us.
