For over 5 years, Collierville's community arts school, the Collierville Arts Academy, has been producing the full length Nutcracker to the delight local and rural audiences in the Collierville area. Using a cast of over 75 local students, volunteers, and parents, our version of The Nutcracker is rich with fine costumes, outstanding props, and surprisingly good talent.
Set by Director Julie Knowles, the story takes place in Victorian-age Austria and focuses on a young girl named Clara and her fascination with the Nutcracker doll given to her by her Uncle Drosselmeyer. Mice grow to human size, toy soldiers come to life, and a journey through the Land of Sweets are all sure to entrance audiences of all ages.
The Nutcracker 2009 ran for four shows at the Collierville High School Auditorium: Friday, 12/18 at 7pm; Saturday, 12/19 at 2:30pm and 7pm; and Sunday, 12/20 at 2:30pm.
