In a multimedia presentation that saluted the saga of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, dancers from Memphis Dance Theatre Company portrayed passengers and crew members in a series of vignettes designed to offer a glimpse of the last fateful hours aboard what was once considered the pinnacle of maritime technology.
Joining City of Memphis Mayor W. W. Herenton, Memphis City Police Chiefs, and several influential businessmen at the performance was a survivor of the tragic event.
Heartbeat Productions produced the event under the direction of Melinda Grable. Responsible for the concept and scope was Artistic Director Keith Arsenault who has been involved in several other exhibition events including the WONDERS Series: Imperial Tombs of China Exhibition. Choreography was created by Christopher Fleming, former Balanchine dancer and choreographer in his own right, and Terry Neil Edlefsen, former Stuttgart Ballet.
